Feb 11, 2009 Comics Leave a comment
As detailed in yesterday’s entry, Rob Liefeld and Brett Ratner plan to unleash a Youngblood film on the moving going public in 2010. This sparked a spirited debate on Newsarama’s message board between fans and Liefeld that has continued over the last couple of days. Everyone seems to have an opinion on Liefeld, so I have put together a Poll to gather everyone’s thoughts on the matter.
What do you think of the impending Youngblood motion picture? Will you be lining up for tickets on opening night, waiting for DVD or skipping it all together?

Youngblood Movie Announced!!! Rob Liefeld and Brett Ratner Eye 2010 Release
Feb 10, 2009 Comics, Movies 3 Comments
A new Shaft will potentially be hitting the big screen in 2010. Newsarama.com broke the news that Rob Liefeld’s creator owned Youngblood comic book series has been optioned by Brett Ratner to be made into a major motion picture. This announcement has definitely polarized some comic fans as the typical Liefeld bashing has already begun in the comments section under the recently posted article at Newsarama. Thankfully, there are Liefeld fans lending their support to help even out the discussion. Liefeld himself has actually replied to a few users comments with solid responses that don’t resort to name calling or flat out speculation. In fact, he has answered both his fans and critics with the same enthusiasm he applies to his work. Liefeld’s enthusiastic art is “fun” and I hope this movie will follow suit. Read More..
A Great Read #7: She-Hulk Vol. 1: Single Green Female

I’m a little late to the party when it comes to Dan Slott, but I’m glad I finally arrived. After reading (and loving) Mighty Avengers #21 a couple of weeks back, the hunt was on for more Slott! That search eventually brought me to She-Hulk Vol.1: Single Green Female. The buzz around Slott has always been that his stories were funny. Not stupid funny, but clever funny and She-Hulk is definitely that. In addition to hilarious situations, this series is packed with action, drama and romance too! She-Hulk is the whole package and the best part is that there are 4 more Slott penned volumes available after this first fantastic collection! This party has only just begun and as they say; better late than never.

Vertigo Comics $1 First Issue Initiative - Why Not Pick Them Up?
Feb 7, 2009 Comics Leave a comment
The New York Comic Con has been going on since Friday and as usual, there are LOTS of announcements being made for the months and year(s) ahead. Vertigo held its panel on Friday afternoon and broke a particular piece of news that I think everyone should be aware of. Yesterday I wrote that the 2nd half of Comic Book Buyer’s Guide #5: Every Comic Shop is Different would be posted today, but that will be posted in the near future as I wanted to touch upon Vertigo’s clever new initiative as soon as I heard about it.
With the steady increase in comic book prices, Vertigo seems to understand that a new series, especially one that doesn’t star a well known character or may not boast an “all-star” creative team, needs all the help it can get to find its way into someone’s weekly pile. With the implementation of Vertigo’s $1 Initiative, the mature-readers imprint is set to get more of their quality comics into readers hands than ever before by offering all #1 issues in 2009 at a cover price of $1. Comics for one dollar?!? I’m in! …and you should be too.
Comic Book Buyer’s Guide #5 - Every Comic Shop is Different - Part 1

Do you remember the first time you walked into your Local Comic Shop? The VERY first time. How everything seemed brand new and fresh? Maybe you needed to ask where the New Releases were or inquired about their Pull List policy once you had made your way inside the door. Or maybe you just wandered around until you found what you were looking for. Either way, chances are you were also experiencing excitement at the possibilities this new store held. The shop you just entered could actually be carrying all those back issues you have been searching high and low for or the person behind the counter may know every answer to every question you could ever come up with. The point being, that excitement can be felt again and again with very little effort (especially if you have a GPS). All you need is a free Saturday and the willingness to get in your car (or take the bus) and drive a bit…
Below is a short list of methods we’ll be going over to help you find some comic book buried treasure:

Feb 5, 2009 The Weekly Pile 2 Comments
This week’s pile of comics maintained the quality trend from last week as each issue was enjoyable in its own way. I purchased 5 comics on Wednesday, but what I brought home was actually the equivalent of 9 single issues. Sounds great, right? It is and we’ll touch on that more in the reviews below.

Mighty Avengers #21 - Corrected Copy? What Did We Miss? - UPDATED!
Feb 4, 2009 Comics 3 Comments
As I was taking a look at the new releases set for today on the Diamond Comics site, I noticed that a Mighty Avengers #21 - Corrected Copy is listed. What is this? After doing a quick Google search for “Mighty Avengers 21 corrected“, I was unable to come up with any solid results besides other people asking the same question. The only bit of info I was able to find was a report stating that there was a “printing error” with the comic.
Evidently, Marvel has decided that a large enough problem existed with the original print run of Mighty Avengers #21 to warrant a ”corrected edition”. But, what the heck was the problem???

Trivia Time #4: Y: The Last Man
Feb 3, 2009 Trivia Time Leave a comment
In the last installment of Trivia Time, Marvel in the 1990s was the topic of choice. We’re switching gears today and will be focusing on a specific series. That series is Vertigo’s consistently wonderful Y: the Last Man. Note that there will be SPOILERS within the questions if you haven’t read the entire series. These trivia questions assume that you have read the full run of comics.
There will be 10 questions in total. I will post the answers to these questions on the Trivia Answers page. No peeking until AFTER you have taken the quiz!
Continue on to take the quiz and be sure to keep score and find out how you did when you finish. Each question is worth one point unless otherwise noted.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Super Bowl Spot = ANTICIPATION!!!
We were shown 30 seconds of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallenlast night during a stoppage in the play of Super Bowl XLIII (Way to go Steelers!). The football game was packed with hard hitting action and excitement and so were the commercial breaks thanks to a few familiar (and NEW!) “robots in disguise”. This is the first footage of interacting robots to be released since the announcement of a sequel was made following the incredible success of the first film back in ‘07 and Michael Bay has completely delivered! There is a lot to be excited about in this spot, but I will let it speak for itself. Just be sure to watch for the coolest unicycle EVER…
Please continue on to see robots fighting robots !!!
