The Stuff of Legend - You Should Order This Comic

stuff-of-legends-cover-1There’s a comic coming out on Free Comic Book Day this year that everyone should pick up.  There’s no excuse not to.  It’s FREE!   All you have to do is literally pick it up…  The comic I am talking about is named The Stuff of Legend and is being published by Th3rd World Studios.  The story involves the adventures of a young child’s toys come to life as they must rescue him from the evil forces who have abducted him.  A preview issue will be available this FCBD that leads directly into a 2-issue series that has me turbo excited!  Honestly, I would be recommending you pick up this book even if it wasn’t going to bear such an economical cover price.  It’s rare to get this excited over a comic that I know so little about but after seeing some preview images and reading the solicitation text, I am primed and ready to order this series right away, practically sight unseen.

Truth be told, I had never even heard of the company publishing this book prior to today.  Or creators Mike Raicht, Brian Smith and Charles Paul Wilson III, for that matter.  Luckily, word is getting around and I’m hopeful that many fans will give this title a shot.  Look at that cover art and try not to get excited as you remember pretending that your toys had lives of their own when you were young.  Imagine if the Boogeyman actually existed as this comic does and what would happen if he truly had the power to steal you away while you slept.  Who would save you?  A better question might be who would you WANT to save you.  The Police?  Your parents or a sibling maybe?  Nope.  How about your legion of faithful toys led by your Army Colonial Soldier figure and courageous (Teddy) Bear?  Sounds like the perfect team for a mission of that nature.

I encourage you to head over to Th3rd World Studio’s official site and check out some preview images from The Stuff of Legend.  This should definitely help to raise your excitement level as there is a succinct write up describing exactly what this series plans to deliver.   Don’t skip the Photo Gallery either as it links to a substantial amount of art and images that blew me away.  Check out that colour double page spread!  Absolutely gorgeous.

The Stuff of Legend has the potential to be a very compelling and entertaining read.  The story concept is solid and the art looks fantastic.  This comic would have appealed to my 10 year old self just as much as it appeals to me now and I cannot wait to read it on May 2, 2009.

I can’t say this enough; the first issue is FREE so run out this Free Comic Book Day and get yourself a copy!
