The Weekly Pile March 11, 2009: Lightning Strikes Twice…

Unbelievably, my Weekly Pile contained the exact same number of new releases this week as it did on Wednesday February 11 of this year…  ZERO.  Not a single new issue.  As detailed in that entry, this was the first time “New Comic Book Day” had not delivered the goods since I began reading weekly books.  Well, four weeks have passed since then and it has happened again.  This seems to suggest that this is not a fluke, but something that may occur again.  What can I do to prevent this from happening again…

Exactly one month since the apparent first ”NOT New Comic Day”, March 11th came calling with nothing to offer me in terms of hot off the press comic book goodness.  This tells me that I need to find some comics being released on the 2nd Wednesday of the month if I want to prevent more these ”Fruitless Wednesdays”.  The problem is that there really isn’t anything being released on those particular Wednesdays that I am interested in enough to put in my bag and run home with.

I decided to not try any new books this week (shame on me) to save some money in hopes that there will be an upcoming Wednesday offering a larger selection of comics that appeal to me during the remainder of the month.  Typically, every month brings with it a week that contains 10 or more stellar comics and I find myself putting something intriguing back on the shelf as I listen to my wallet and good sense (cents?).

So, let’s hope the next Weekly Pile is a bit more exciting than March 11, 2009 turned out to be.  A quick peek at next week’s scheduled comics thanks to the the Diamond Distributors Upcoming Releases page definitely encourages me.  I can count at least three or four issues that I will be picking up after just a quick glance!

See you next week!
